Southern Golf Club was built in the late 1940’s by Sam Berriman, a prolific designer in the 1940’s and 50’s around Melbourne and responsible for many well known courses such as Cranbourne, Keysborough and for the most part, Huntingdale.
For the first 30 years of its life the course played across lower dandenong road….9 holes one side and nine on the other. But as the road went from a quiet dirt track to a 4 lane major road the course had to be altered so land was purchased further to the south in the late 1970’s and new holes were built so that all 18 holes were on the same parcel of land.
In 2020 the club engaged OCM to commence a Masterplan aimed at improving the design and to recapture its sandbelt roots. Work on the Masterplan commenced in 2023.
