Few courses in Australia can boast land as good as that which Portsea was routed over 70 yeas ago.
Built amongst some of the most dramatic sand dunes on the whole of the Peninsula, the course is wedged between the surf beach to the south, Point Nepean National Park to the East and Port Phillip Bay to the North. You simply wouldn’t get permission to build a course on land like this nowadays….a good thing they did though as it’s a wonderful golfing experience.
Jock Young designed the first 9 holes which opened in 1922 and then over the next 40 years the layout would slowly expand to the 18 holes we more or less know today.
OCM have consulted to the club for a number of years on a range of design and construction matters. In 2020 we helped the club with a number of small projects including routing many new paths around the course, and work to the 6th, 9th and 18th holes.
